How to Make Delta Airlines Check-in: Check-in Policy, Time, And Required Documents

Delta Airlines Check-in, the Fly Delta app, or in-person at the airport, you’ll be expected to present government-issued photo identification to travel along with your boarding pass. If you need help while checking in, we’re here to assist.

Delta Airlines Check-in: Online

Up to 24 hours before departure, you can check in on your desktop computer. Select “Check-In” in the header of any page or go to My Trips in your Delta account. Enter your confirmation number, SkyMiles number, or credit card number to access your itinerary. You can print your boarding pass or get a boarding Pass on your mobile device.

How to Check-in for International Flights With Delta

  • STEP 1: Go to Delta.com and click on “Itineraries and Check-In” to find the online check-in link.
  • STEP 2: Enter your confirmation number, SkyMiles number, credit card number or eTicket number to access the check-in page.
  • STEP 3: Enter your passport number and its expiration date to continue the international check-in process.
  • STEP 4: Change your seat assignment, if necessary and choose the number of bags you would like to check.
  • STEP 5: Print your boarding passes from the website, or choose the “print later” option to print them at another time, or when you are at the airport.
  • STEP 6: Arrive at the airport two hours prior to departure to allow time for security checks.
  • STEP 7: Drop your checked-in bags at the desk marked “Baggage Drop” near the Delta check-in desk.

Delta Check-in: Fly Delta App

Make your travel day even easier with the Fly Delta app. After you download, you can check in as a guest, log in, or register for a SkyMiles account. From there, you can add your trip confirmation number and access your trips. When you’re logged in, you’ll be automatically checked in 24 hours before your flight. You can also Today Mode to see your boarding pass, baggage tracker, and more.

Delta Check-in: Airport Kiosk

If you didn’t use the Fly Delta app to check in to your flight or print your boarding pass, use the Delta airport kiosks to check in quickly. When you arrive, follow the prompts on the kiosk to enter your SkyMiles number, confirmation number, or eTicket number to access your trip and print your boarding pass.

Delta Check-in: Airport Check-In Desk

When you’re inside the airport and looking to check in, speak with us in person at any of our Delta Air Lines check-in desks. You’ll see an area clearly labeled for Delta flights, with a special Sky Priority boarding line for Gold, Platinum, and Diamond Medallion Members and First Class, Premium Select, or Delta One® passengers.

  • STEP 1: Arrive at the airport two or three hours before an international departure. Delta closes international check in counters 60 minutes prior to departure.
  • STEP 2: Find the Delta check-in area at the appropriate terminal. Read terminal signs to find out which airlines are served by which terminal. Most airports have transportation between terminals, so don’t worry if you are not dropped off at the correct terminal.
  • STEP 3: Join the line for your boarding class. Economy check-in forms one line, while business, first class and elite SkyMiles members form another queue.
  • STEP 4: Use the self check-in kiosks or wait for an available desk clerk to check in.
  • STEP 5: Show your passport to the desk personnel or swipe it through the machine for self check-in.
  • STEP 6: Confirm your flights and request a new seat assignment, if desired, from the kiosk or with the agent.
  • STEP 7: Drop your checked-in bags at the desk and collect the claim check stubs for them.
  • STEP 8: Collect your tickets and proceed to the security checkpoint, where you will need to show your tickets and your passport.

Delta Check-in: Airport Curbside

If you’d prefer to check-in as soon as you exit the car, find a Delta curbside desk located at passenger drop-off at most U.S. airports. Here, you can check your baggage directly after you’ve exited your vehicle. If you’re bringing oversized baggage, you may have to bring it inside to an oversized baggage area. There is no fee for using curbside check-in at the airport, but gratuities are always appreciated for outstanding service.

When you’re traveling within the United States, we make the suggestion to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours prior to departure. For most airports, you must be checked in at least 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time (airports requiring additional time are listed here, Go to footer note)  Additionally, you’re required to be at the gate and ready to board 15 minutes before scheduled departure.
