JetBlue is a great airline to fly on, but sometimes you have to cancel your flight or make changes to it. It’s not as simple as calling the airline and canceling your ticket—you have to follow specific rules in order to do so.
If you need to change your flight time, but don’t want to cancel it entirely, there are a few ways you can do that. You must cancel your ticket if you want to change its origin or destination, but if you just want to change the time of your trip and still be able to fly with JetBlue, here’s how:
First, go online and log into your account with JetBlue. Then select “Change or Cancel My Flight” from the menu at the top of the screen. You’ll see a drop-down menu where you can choose between changing and cancelling; select “Change My Flight.” From there, enter all of the information about your travel plans into their system as well as any special requests for itinerary changes (e.g., if you need help getting through security). If everything checks out correctly when they review it, then they’ll confirm that they’ve updated your ticket and email it back over to you!
Canceling a JetBlue reservation booked with points or Cash
If you want to cancel a JetBlue reservation, you have the option of doing so before departure or after. Once you book your flight with points or cash, it’s considered a confirmed reservation and is nonrefundable. However, if you haven’t yet checked in for your flight, you can cancel up until that time without penalty.
If you need to cancel your JetBlue flight within 24 hours of booking it, there are no fees associated with doing so. To do this, simply log into your account and visit the section titled “My Reservations.” Once there, click on the reservation you wish to cancel and choose “Cancel Reservation” from the drop-down menu.
If you want to cancel your flight after it has already been booked with points or cash but before check-in (within 24 hours), there is no fee associated with canceling this reservation as well. To do so, go back to your account and click on “My Reservations” again; this time select “Manage My Bookings” from the drop-down menu instead of “Cancel Reservation.
JetBlue Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel your reservation, you may do so up to 24 hours before the scheduled departure time of your first flight. If you cancel within 24 hours of your scheduled departure time, the cancellation fee is $100 per person for domestic flights and $200 per person for international flights.
If you cancel at least 24 hours before your scheduled flight, JetBlue won’t charge you anything. However, if you cancel within the 24-hour window, they will charge $150 per ticket. If you don’t arrive on time and don’t call ahead to say so, they’ll charge $150 per ticket.
- You can cancel your flight up to 24 hours before departure, and you’ll receive a full refund.
- If you cancel your flight within 24 hours of departure, you’ll receive a full refund if your ticket was purchased at least 14 days in advance; otherwise, you can get a refund for the unused portion of your ticket.
- In the event of flight delays or cancellations, JetBlue will rebook you on another flight, but only if it’s within the same calendar year. If the new flight is outside of that time frame, they will provide compensation equal to 200 percent of the fare paid for that leg of your original itinerary (up to $400).
JetBlue Standard Tickets Cancellation Policy
JetBlue offers a very generous cancellation policy for standard tickets. If you purchase a non-refundable ticket, you can cancel within 24 hours of booking online, or 48 hours if you purchase the ticket by phone.
JetBlue’s standard ticket cancellation policy is as follows:
- Cancellations made up to 24 hours before your flight departure time will incur a $100 fee.
- Cancellations made less than 24 hours before your flight departure time will incur a $200 fee, plus the cost of any non-refundable taxes and fees associated with the ticket.
If you have purchased a refundable fare, you may cancel your reservation without penalty if you give JetBlue notice at least 24 hours before your scheduled flight time. If you do not cancel in advance, you will be subject to the same penalties listed above for cancellations made after that point.
JetBlue Refundable Tickets Cancellation Policy
JetBlue offers refundable tickets, but if you cancel your flight you may not get a full refund. Before you buy a refundable ticket, make sure you know the airline’s policy on cancellations and refunds.
JetBlue’s Refundable Ticket Cancellation Policy
If you book a JetBlue flight with a credit card, the airline will charge a $30 fee per person for any changes made to your itinerary, including cancellations or date changes. If you’re traveling as part of a group, each member will be charged this fee. The airline also charges $30 for ticket reissues and refunds. However, if the change affects only one person in the reservation (for example: if the other member of your party can’t travel), then there won’t be any fees associated with changing your reservation so long as you give at least 24 hours’ notice before departure time.
If passengers choose not to travel due to illness or other emergencies, they’ll receive a full refund within seven days after cancellation. If they cancel their plans within seven days of departure time and don’t plan on making another trip in that time period, it’s best to contact JetBlue directly so that they can issue an immediate refund
JetBlue Cancellation Policy for Mosaic Members
JetBlue offers a specific cancellation policy for Mosaic members. If you’re a Mosaic member and have been assigned a seat on a JetBlue flight, you can cancel your reservation up to 24 hours before departure for a refund of the value of the ticket. If you cancel after that time or don’t check in within 30 minutes of the scheduled check-in time, you won’t be able to get a refund.
Cancellation Charges: If you cancel your reservation, you’ll be charged $50 per person if you do so at least 14 days before your flight but less than 24 hours before takeoff. If you cancel less than 14 days before takeoff but more than 24 hours before departure, JetBlue will charge $75 per person.
How to Cancel JetBlue Flight
Canceling a flight is usually a simple process, but if you’re not sure how to do it, we’ll show you how.
If you’re unable to travel for some reason and want to cancel your JetBlue flight, you can do so by calling customer service or visiting the airline’s website. If you’re at the airport, there are other options available as well.
1) Call Customer Service
If you don’t have access to the Internet, the best way to cancel your flight is by calling JetBlue’s customer service number. When you call, be prepared with your reservation number and any other information that may be necessary for them to process your request. You may also be required to provide a credit card number in order to confirm your cancellation request.
2) Visit the Website or Use Your Mobile App
If you have access to the Internet, log into your account on JetBlue’s website or app and click on “Manage Your Booking” under My Reservations & Ticketing. If you want to change or cancel your ticket outside of the 24-hour window, it will cost you $100 per ticket. The airline does not charge fees for changes made within 30 days of departure.
Here are some of the most common reasons JetBlue customers change their flights:

- Injury or illness
- Change in employment status
- Relocation/moving out of state

If you’re traveling for any of these reasons, you may be eligible for a refund for your unused ticket. If you purchased your ticket with a credit card, we can provide information on how to file a claim through your credit card company. If you paid with cash or debit, we’ll issue a refund directly back into your bank account within five business days after we receive your request.
JetBlue Standard Tickets Change Policy
JetBlue’s standard tickets are nonrefundable and nonchangeable, except in the case of a ticket cancellation or substitution. This means that once you have purchased a ticket, you cannot make any changes to it.
If you need to change or cancel your flight, you can do so by contacting JetBlue at least 24 hours before departure. If you don’t provide at least 24 hours’ notice, JetBlue may charge a $100 change fee per person plus any difference in fare if you’re changing flights. You will be responsible for any fare difference if you’re cancelling your flight within 24 hours of departure.
If your flight is cancelled, JetBlue will refund the entire cost of your ticket.
JetBlue Flight Change Policy for Mosaic Members
JetBlue has a flight change policy for Mosaic members. This policy allows you to change your reservation or cancel it without paying any additional fees if you make your request at least 24 hours before your scheduled departure time. You can also change or cancel your reservation for free if you make the request during a time that JetBlue considers to be “off peak” — that is, outside of business hours (8:30 to 9:00 am and 5:00 to 7:00 pm EST).
If you need to change or cancel your flight, be sure to review the airline’s rules and restrictions carefully. Can you cancel a JetBlue flight without penalty?
The answer to this question is a little more complicated than you might think. The short answer is yes, you can cancel a JetBlue flight without penalty—but there are some exceptions and limitations.
The first thing you need to know is that there are different kinds of penalties for canceling a flight. If you book your flight through JetBlue’s website or app, then you’ll pay the same fee for canceling that you would have paid if you had bought your ticket directly from JetBlue. But if you book through another site or on the phone with an agent, then you’ll pay an additional $100 cancellation fee.
The second thing to know is that the penalty only applies to changes made within 24 hours of departure time. If you change your itinerary after that point, there’s no penalty at all—in fact, JetBlue will give you credit toward future travel!
Is it cheaper to cancel my JetBlue flight or change it?

If you think that changing your JetBlue flight is going to save you money, but then realize that it’s actually more expensive than canceling and rebooking, there’s no need to worry—you won’t be charged any fees for changing your ticket if you choose not to take the new itinerary provided by JetBlue.
