What If I am going to miss my Alaska flight

If you are going to miss your flight, tell Alaska Air about it beforehand. They will give you the value of your ticket as credit for future use. The credit will be sent to your My Wallet. You can cancel your ticket using three main options:

Contacting the reservations team on the phone

  • Changing or canceling your reservation on the Alaska Air website
  • Speaking with an Alaska Air agent at one of the airport ticket counters

If you fail to cancel your flight before the departure time or don’t show up for your flight, the no-show policy will be applied. This means that:

  • If you wish to Cancel or Change your Alaska Reservations, you need to do so before the scheduled departure time. If not, you will lose your reservation and all continuing and return flights as well. The money you spend on non-refundable fares is not available as credit for a future flight

If You Have a Multi-Flight Trip

For a multi-flight itinerary, compensation may only be paid on the flights you missed or were delayed on. In order to receive compensation, your delay or cancellation must meet several conditions. They include:

  • The disruption must be eligible under EC 261. This means it has to be a result of extraordinary circumstances.
  • Your missed connection should have occurred due to a delay that causes you to reach your final destination up to 3 hours late
  • Your missed connection should have been caused by denied boarding or a cancellation

Alaska Missed Flight Fee

Depending on your reservation, there may be a fee to change or cancel it. If a fee does apply, it is $125 (USD) per person, per change, in addition to any difference in fare. Also, when your new reservation is made, you’ll be responsible for a difference in the ticket price.

What is Alaska Airlines No-show Policy?

No-show is when a flight departs without having all passengers checked in. For example, if a person fails to check-in for their flight and the plane takes off, the missed flight counts as a no-show.

Alaska Airlines’ no-show policy is also not lenient. If a customer doesn’t cancel his/her flight tickets until the scheduled departure time, then Alaska Airlines will apply its no-show policy to that customer’s reservation.

This also means that all other flights of the passenger will be automatically canceled, and no refund will be provided by the airline on a non-refundable ticket. However, if the passenger is traveling on a refundable ticket then he/she will get a refund even if a no-show is applied to the said passenger’s reservation.

How does Alaska Airlines No-show policy work?

A passenger should call Alaska Airlines reservations to let them know if he/she is going to miss the flight prior to the departure of the scheduled flight. It will not be applied on a passenger’s reservation if they do a no-show, and the value of their ticket will be put in their “My Wallet” so that they can use it later used on a future flight.

However, this will be subject to the change fees. Those traveling on Saver fares are not eligible for the airline’s no-show policy.

When the passenger needs to cancel his/her ticket, he/she can use Alaska Airlines’ cancellation policy. If the passenger fails to cancel his/her ticket before flight departure then Alaska Airlines will cancel the flight reservations along with all continuing and return flights.

According to Alaska Airlines’ No-show policy, the money and/or Mileage Plan miles spent on nonrefundable fares will also not be provided as credit towards a future flight. However, for MVP Gold and MVP Gold 75K members, Alaska Airlines will continue to waive change and cancellation fees.

What to Do If I Missed My Connecting Flight on Alaska Air?

If you missed your connecting flight on Alaska Air, you would receive compensation if there was a fault of the airline. However, if it was due to extraordinary circumstances or problems with weather conditions, you would not get compensation. You could seek support from customer service if necessary.

What About My Seat?

The main problem with missing your flight and not calling the airline before the flight takes off is that your seat is left empty because they waited for you until the last minute. So, from a business standpoint, you would have been considered flown.
If the airline reschedules your flight, they give you a free ticket and lose money. So if you call before takeoff, they can sell your seat to someone looking to get on that flight at the last minute.

To Change or cancel your reservation online (Visit AlaskaAir.com.)

  • You will be refunded the value of your ticket as credit for your future Alaska Airlines flight, to be added to your My Wallet. You can use this to re-book another flight.
  • If you do not cancel your ticket before your flight departs, any connecting or return flight will be canceled. If these flights are non-refundable, you will not get My Wallet Credit.
